In the previous article about the fear, Fear (Chapter 1 - ACCEPTANCE) , we saw the importance of the fears appear to accept that the only way to not appear It must be recognized that should appear.
Chapter of Today we will look more natural aspects of fear.
First, it is very important to be honest with ourselves and recognize our fears. Many people never overcome their fears because they dare to admit. They feel uncomfortable and even ashamed to admit that others may think it is a weak person.
Not long ago I heard my grandmother tell the phone to her friend, "Tim is very scary and that's not going to the hospital to see Aunt Amparo." At the moment I heard is true I felt some shame because the picture seemed to project onto me was a "shit" a "Miedico." I had not really gone to see lady of 84 years because she was in a period of testing and wanted to wait to have a longer day, but my grandmother has lived my anxiety processes which long has projected an image of me being afraid to certain topics.
While it is true that I am passionate about the hospitals, of course I went to see my aunt. At first I generated some anxiety, I accepted it had to be there and once in the room with her I said "look like no big deal." From everything I had anticipated irrational fears nothing had happened.
I mean this story is that there is no shame in that some things will create more fear than others people. In my case, I do not fight fear generated by training with a guy twice my size, but other people do.
really all have fears, to any brave knight who fought and became a hero in the past I was afraid. The difference is the management of fear. The gentleman accepted fear will happen, and even fear instead of called "being prepared" (thanks Aida ) and help it to overcome.
The really strong person is one that is honest with herself. I speak from experience, I've been playing for years. Being afraid is natural, such as feeling hungry or thirsty, and I've never seen anyone feel ashamed hungry or thirsty.
all know people who say they have no fear at all and finally turns out, or were confused or were a downright liar. Say you do not feel afraid is like saying you do not feel hunger, love or hate. Everyone experiences emotions and fear is the strongest and most primitive.
Fear arises at the prospect of a conflict or danger, is a natural defense mechanism that helps us survive in life threatening situations. The problem esque brain knows how to differentiate the different types of confrontation. If we present a real danger (a street fight to fend off a mugger), our brain releases adrenaline to optimize the reaction. Present a hazard if intangible, as a college exam, a talk in public, where it is not possible a physical struggle, the brain acts the same way.
When I started training in the martial arts world, I convinced myself that I had no fear of my opponents and all I wanted was to take a level sufficient for my teacher to let me compete against them. Actually what was happening was that the mere thought that I had to fight very hard against them caused me distress, which releases adrenalin made gradually over days, weeks and even months I was getting ready. This advance so long resulted in sleepless nights and reduced my appetite. Under these conditions lost weight and went into a depressive process. I saw myself immersed in a downward spiral, the inability to sleep and not eating because he had to be really bad. At such low defenses have my internal rival, which constantly generates fears me, was taking more power. Eventually I became so sick that I was about to call my teacher and tell silly excuses for not having to fight. many of you may feel identified ye, how many times the anguish caused by a future confrontation has made you avoid certain situations and made you make an excuse for your absence?
Recognition of your fears is the first and most important step to overcome your fear. If you are not honest with yourself, you can not go not even the first step of your way to success, nor stay in it.
know it is not easy. If it were everybody would be a black belt in Kung Fu, would have a big car, a dream job and live with a perfect match. But the road to achieving our goals lies in being honest and acknowledge the fears we have, in order to overcome them.
