During the 19th and 20th of November was held at the School of Information Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid Fourth Congress of Journalism under the theme Red "Reinventing the Media."
There, various figures in journalism came to give their views on journalism, the blogosphere, citizen journalism and the future of this exciting profession which seems to be uncertain.
The Blog was there and got an interview with James Weaver , Doctor of Journalism from the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona. The questions put to him go through two of the most important things to focus on when thinking about the future of journalism and online journalism. On the one hand, how sell information over the Internet, where (almost) everything is free and if not, is done well. And second, if a blogger can be a journalist.
Here is the interview.
Actually, these two points are very important and needs to work on them.
is clear that not everything online is reliable. But the extent to which Internet users know that? If the Wikipedia, a formidable work tool if properly used, is so successful and is so used, we believe that people do not know. Many other people use Wikipedia as a basis on which then continue to seek and deepen. Should not be given for good the first information obtained on the Internet. It is important to contrast.
If this is the information we present, and journalism, we find that there are many blogs and websites on today, in which people think and speak freely on a daily basis. But we can not know if the information is fully proven and whether the data are correct or not. A journalist also be wrong, but it lives and can demand greater responsibility and, if necessary, corrected. But an anonymous character network. Besides, the ideology of the blogger may be altered, depending on their interests, information. Clearly, this may also occur in the case of a professional journalist. But as in the previous case, this may be required responsibility.

In both cases, the information the user would not "clean." Would pass through filters that would alter the actual information. The observant user would contrast this information and reach a broader knowledge of the fact. But someone who wants to know information quickly, and would not stay with a poor information.
On the other hand, and related to the first point is the issue of selling the information. It is complicated, because people do not spend money to see what is free (It happens with movies, music, literature, etc). It is necessary to demonstrate that professional journalists do and that quality information worth paying for receiving, as the "free news" can be misleading, false or incomplete.
And you, what do you think?:
- How to pay for the information on the Internet?
- Citizen journalism is an enemy or a complementary body?
- Is able to sell the information?
