Rodchenko and Popova. Defining constructivism

few weeks ago, Jorge Lozano, our professor of information theory, we spoke of a great and bold statement at the Reina Sofía . However, I did not think when I went to see her, moved by curiosity and the influence that man has on us, I was going to hit that way.

discuss impacts in the broadest sense of the word. Before entering the room I expected a poor exposure, with some touches of performance and maybe some fun like activity to accompany her. But, to introduce the first of the "rooms", I was impressed by the colors, shapes, textures and history that it is beginning to translate. When toured the many rooms that made up the exhibition, I saw how masterfully Rodchenko and Popova were involved in a direct and brutal society through their ultimate form of expression, art.

Both, combined with great mastery of painting, sculpture, including some works type propaganda, film, theater ... In the midst of the Russian Revolution, these artists have pushed for the imagination, abstraction, opted for a new form of language that would change substantially the twentieth century architecture.

Identifying some traces of Kandinsky, Rodchenko and Popova, take us back to the purest Russian Constructivism. The exhibition "5 X 5 = 25", which was attended by many Russian artists, leaves a revolutionary flavor, friendly and innovative. Each model, each home takes us to a piece of Russian history in the hands of both are transformed into something quite ordinary.

On the other hand, we must mention the wonderful role of Tate with the Reina Sofía museum, by equating the two artists. For the first time, at least for me, the talent of a woman as Popova, which particularly delight me, not relegated to the background. Only since the end of the exhibition, esRodchenko who occupies the role since Popova died in 1924, and may not be part of the next phase delconstructivismo Russian. Not for nothing left us a great legacy, his thoughts and deeds.

As incentive I have to say that the exhibition not only invited to think, read, but also to participate it, through the various books in the reproduction of the "library" where the two met more artists, we can find to the public. Also the room has an amazing chess fully staged, where my dear companion Marta beat hit me (albeit with some questionable moves.)

Finally, note that exposure does not end there, planned for the duration of the cinematographic work "Moscow in October, 1927 by Boris Barnet where Rodchenko served as art director and designed the credits of the film, according to the museum. In addition, each visit can view different silent films that we "tell" what was the Russian society at the time.

recall that the exhibition can be seen in museum hours until 11 January. Student admission is free presenting the identification card.
