Number 9: animated steampunk

I see and I recommend, Number 9, Shane Acker . It is the long version of the short film director.

At the start, we see the birth of a being with a rag doll in a post-apocalyptic world. He peers through the sale and only see destruction and darkness. 9 , as it is called, moves, talks, looks like a living, not to know what is (to finish).

scary
Our friend begins to move and find others like him, other beings with bulging eyes, seams and tiny arms (for us). But I also want to find machines that horrible kill them.

The aesthetic is totally steampunk : cars, houses, machinery, steam as an energy source ... It is also a dystopia clear: there are plants, no rain, no people (early fall to see how these machines).

Later, 9 is a kind of button with pictures from the beginning, seems to be the key to everything.

The director web, you can see the original short plus two animated shorts by himself.

The script is very good. Not your typical movie that tell us that all human creations end up being used against human beings. At least not in the strict sense, is something else. Ends as a celebration of hope and a better future. The writer is Pamela Pettler ( The corpse bride )

has its share of action, its share of humor and his party drama. I was surprised to see the final was producer Tim Burton, that I read was amazed with the short. And other names in the film are Elijah Wood and Martin Landau .

The animation is also very good. The picture is very clean and no funny moves, it's all very fluid, as if it were real image.

is very short. Lasts only an hour and ten minutes and, although there is a moment that seems to be running (sounds Somewhere over the rainbow), is missing a few more minutes of footage. But better that way ("What good if ..."); few short films will lengthen marred by more of the account.

is also grateful that there will be no more parties, as is now in vogue throughout the film. Or so it seems. When fine implied that everything ends.

Finally, here you can see an interview with Tim Burton (Aullidos.com).

This film has passed the same with District 9: short of an unknown director who arrives in the hands of a famous director who decides to produce it. Results: In the biggest lineup out the name of the producer and director thinks that the former are the originators of the idea.
is bad in principle because it overshadowed the creators. But it also helps the promotion. I wish I to me that someone saw my short, bringing a pretty big name as a producer on the long version.

Do you guys what do you think?
Would you like animation?
Have you seen the movie?
Do you think that the two directors quedea a bit obscured by the producers?
